Xsport celebrates 15 years: From the first jump to thousands of experiences
Some moments cannot be placed in a box, wrapped in paper or displayed on a shelf. They remain in our memory because we did something for the first time, overcame a fear, fulfilled a long-held wish or turned an ordinary day into a story we continue telling our friends for years.
Xsport was built around moments like these. Our story began in 2011, when we wanted to make experiences more accessible to people that, at the time, seemed distant, difficult to reach or reserved only for the bravest. We started with skydiving and gradually expanded our range over the years with new locations, activities and entirely different ways of spending free time.
Today, our experiences include activities in the air, on the water, on racetracks, in the mountains, gorges, caves and nature. Some offer intense adrenaline, others beautiful views, while others provide speed, social interaction or an opportunity to try something that cannot be experienced in everyday life.
Fifteen years in business is more than an anniversary for us. It is the story of thousands of participants, countless preparations, completed activities, conquered fears and smiles at the end of each experience. Above all, it proves that people are not looking only for things, but for moments with personal value.
Our story began with a skydive
The beginning of Xsport is closely connected with skydiving. Tandem skydiving was the first experience with which we began building our range and remains one of our most recognisable activities today.
A skydive is not just a few seconds of courage at the open door of an aircraft. It is an entire process that begins much earlier. First comes the desire, followed by choosing a location and date, arriving at the airfield, meeting our tandem pilots, preparing the equipment and flying towards the jump altitude. Only then does the moment arrive when the aircraft door opens and anticipation turns into freefall.
Over fifteen years, we have been part of many unforgettable tandem jumps, each with its own story. One person jumped for their 18th birthday, another for their 50th, while someone else jumped because they had dreamed about it since childhood. Some wanted to confront their fear of heights, while others were simply looking for the most intense experience they could try without any previous skydiving knowledge.
Over the years, we have made skydiving accessible to participants at different locations. Each offers a slightly different experience. At some locations, the jump altitude is the main attraction, while others stand out because of their accessibility, views or distinctive landscape. One of the most picturesque options is tandem skydiving in Bovec, where freefall is accompanied by views of the Soča Valley and the peaks of the Julian Alps.
Skydiving taught us that a good experience does not depend only on its intensity. Trust, clear instructions, proper preparation, quality equipment and the participant’s understanding of what to expect are equally important. We later applied this approach to all our other activities.
From one experience to four worlds of adventure
When we began expanding our range, we quickly realised that everyone is looking for something different. Not everyone wants to jump out of an aircraft, and not everyone experiences adrenaline in the same way. Some are attracted to heights, others to speed, wild water or an activity they can enjoy with a partner, friends or family.
We therefore gradually developed four main worlds of experiences: Fly & Fall, Motorsport, Wind & Water and Sport & Fun. Each offers activities with different levels of intensity, duration and difficulty.
Fly and fall – A world above the ground
In the Fly & Fall category, we have brought together experiences for everyone attracted to heights, the sky and a feeling of freedom. These include tandem skydiving, paragliding, panoramic flights, hot-air ballooning, helicopter flights, aerobatic flights, indoor skydiving and other aerial activities.
Some aerial experiences are highly adrenaline-filled, while others are calm and panoramic. A hot-air balloon flight is centred around silently floating above the landscape. Paragliding combines a take-off from elevated terrain with a long scenic descent. Indoor skydiving provides the sensation of freefall without jumping from an aircraft, while panoramic flights are suitable for anyone who wants to experience the landscape from a new perspective.
At the completely opposite end of the range is a flight in a military jet fighter aircraft. This is one of the most intense experiences in our range. The participant experiences not only high speed, but also flight preparation, pilot equipment, manoeuvres and G-forces that transform an ordinary flight into a genuine military aviation experience.
The range from a calm panoramic flight to freefall or flying in a jet fighter demonstrates how differently people can experience the sky.
Motorsport – Speed, sound and control
For everyone who prefers to find adrenaline on asphalt, gravel or off-road terrain, we developed the Motorsport category. It includes driving sports cars and supercars, racing experiences, rally, motocross, off-road driving and other activities involving engines.
Many people dream from childhood of one day sitting behind the wheel of a car they would otherwise see only on television, online or at motor shows. This dream can be fulfilled with a drive in a Ferrari 488 GTB on Grobnik Racetrack, where the participant encounters the car’s performance in an environment designed for dynamic driving.
Motorsport is not only about top speed. A large part of the experience comes from the sound of the engine, acceleration, braking, the driving position, the car’s response and the feeling that, for a few moments, you have entered a world usually accessible only to professional drivers or owners of very special vehicles.
In addition to experiences on asphalt, we also offer rally, motocross and off-road driving. Participants can therefore choose between the precision of a racetrack, sliding on gravel, driving across demanding terrain or learning how to control a motorcycle.
Wind and water – Experiences shaped by nature
In the Wind & Water category, people adapt not only to the activity but also to the environment. The river, gorge, wind, waves and depth determine the character of the experience and ensure that no activity is ever exactly the same as the previous one.
Our water activities include rafting, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, diving, snorkelling, cave exploration and different forms of canyoning. Some experiences are relaxed and suitable for beginners, while others require greater physical fitness, cooperation or confidence in the water.
A special part of our range is canyoning in Slovenia. During canyoning, we move through a natural gorge by walking, swimming, sliding down rock slides, jumping into pools and abseiling. Every canyon has a different character, so you can choose between playful beginner tours and longer, more demanding descents.
Water experiences are particularly popular with friends, couples and groups because participants often work together during the activity. A shared experience on a river or in a gorge quickly becomes a story the group continues telling long after returning to dry land.
Sport and fun – Adventures for different generations
The Sport & Fun category was created for everyone looking for an active and distinctive way to spend their free time without necessarily seeking the most intense adrenaline.
It includes adventure parks, climbing, archery, paintball, shooting, caving, various group activities and ziplining. Some are suitable for individuals and couples, while others are ideal for families, groups of friends, celebrations or team-building events.
One of the most picturesque options is Zipline Kanin in Bovec, where the sensation of speed is combined with views of the Bovec Basin and the surrounding mountains. Ziplining is a good example of an activity that requires no special previous knowledge but still offers enough height and speed to turn an ordinary excursion into a genuine adventure.
Over the years, we have learned that an unforgettable experience is not always connected with the greatest height or highest speed. Sometimes it is enough for people to try something new together, laugh, compete or enter an environment that takes them away from their daily routine for a few hours.
The experience does not begin only at the location
After fifteen years, we know that the final impression is influenced by more than the moment of the jump, flight, drive or descent. The experience begins when someone first starts thinking about what they would like to try or what they would like to give another person.
A clear description of the activity, understandable participation requirements, choosing the appropriate option, placing an order, reserving a date and receiving information before arrival are all important. Participants want to know how long the experience will last, what they need to bring, what restrictions apply, what they should wear and what happens in the event of bad weather.
For some activities, only the date and arrival need to be coordinated. For others, weather, wind, water level, racetrack conditions, flight schedules or the operating season play an important role. Organisation and communication are therefore an important part of our work, even though participants often do not see them at the location itself.
Our goal is for visitors to receive enough information before arrival so that, once at the location, they can focus on the reason they came: the sensation, speed, view, social experience or personal challenge.
People stand behind every experience
For a participant, an activity may last a few minutes or several hours. Behind the scenes, however, it often requires coordinating dates, monitoring the weather, preparing and inspecting equipment, organising the location and the work of pilots, tandem pilots, instructors, guides, drivers and the support team.
Every activity requires different expertise. A tandem pilot must prepare the participant and ensure the safe execution of the jump. A canyoning guide must understand the canyon, water level, rope techniques and the abilities of the group. In motorsport, the technical condition of the vehicle, instructions and control over the driving process are essential. During flights, the activity must always be adapted to the conditions, aviation regulations and characteristics of the individual aircraft.
Experience does not show only when everything goes according to plan. It is also important when the weather changes, dates need to be adjusted, participants react differently or a decision must be made that gives priority to safety.
The best experiences may appear wild, fast or high from the outside, but their execution behind the scenes must remain calm, precise and organised.
What has changed in fifteen years?
When we began creating Xsport in 2011, giving experiences as gifts was far less common than it is today. People more often bought physical objects for birthdays, anniversaries and other occasions. Today, an increasing number of gift recipients say they do not want another thing, but something they can actually experience.
The way people choose has also changed. Before making a purchase, they want more information, photographs, videos and comparisons. They want to know who the activity is suitable for, how demanding it is, whether previous knowledge is required and what happens if the chosen date is cancelled because of the weather.
Experiences have also become more diverse. They are no longer intended only for people who describe themselves as adrenaline enthusiasts. One person wants intense freefall, another a calm flight, someone else wants to drive their dream car, while another person wants a family excursion or a group activity where socialising is the most important element.
Because wishes differ so greatly, choosing the right activity has become extremely important. The best experience is not necessarily the most extreme one, but the one that suits the person, their interests and the occasion for which it was selected.
When choosing only one experience is the hardest part
A large proportion of our experiences are chosen as gifts. Sometimes it is immediately clear what would make the recipient happiest. A car enthusiast can be given a drive in a sports car, someone who loves heights can receive a flight or jump, while an active explorer may enjoy rafting, canyoning or another adventure in nature.
It is more difficult when we know that a person wants something special but do not know their exact preferences, availability or attitude towards heights, speed and water. In such cases, value gift vouchers are a practical option because they allow the recipient to choose the experience that suits them best from the available range.
The gift therefore remains an invitation to adventure without determining an activity, location or date that might not suit the recipient.
Experiences are not only for the bravest
The word adrenaline often creates an image of an extreme activity for which a person must be particularly brave or physically fit. Our range, however, is much broader.
For one person, jumping from an aircraft is a major personal challenge. For another, it may be their first paragliding flight, zipline descent, dive beneath the sea surface or drive on a racetrack. Some want a fast and intense experience, while others prefer a calm view and the feeling of leaving their everyday environment behind for a while.
It is important for people to choose an activity that genuinely attracts them. An experience does not become unforgettable because it appears the most extreme on paper, but because it has personal meaning for the participant.
The most beautiful part of our story is the stories of our participants
Over fifteen years, we have been part of many important moments. People have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, the completion of their education and special life milestones with us. They have given an experience to a partner, parents, children, friends, colleagues or themselves.
Some fulfilled a long-held wish to skydive after many years. Others sat behind the wheel of a Ferrari for the first time, flew above the mountains, descended through a gorge or stepped onto a bridge from which a bungee jump into the depths awaited them.
The end of the activity is often a particularly special moment. Initial anticipation and nervousness are replaced by a smile, relief and excitement. Sometimes participants need a few moments to understand what they have just experienced. Photographs, recordings and stories shared with people who did not witness the experience up close then follow.
The experience therefore does not end with landing, stopping the car or leaving the water. It continues in the story the participant takes with them.
Fifteen years is only the beginning of the next chapter
Our fifteenth anniversary is an opportunity to look back at the journey from the first tandem jumps to today’s range of experiences. However, we do not intend to stop here.
We continue searching for new activities, locations and ways to make experiences accessible that people may currently know only from films, videos or other people’s stories. At the same time, we want to continue improving information, the reservation process and the entire journey from the first visit to our website to the moment when the participant returns home after completing the activity.
Our goal remains the same as it was at the beginning: to allow people to replace an ordinary day with something they will remember long after the activity has ended.
The N1 portal also wrote about our anniversary, the development of our range and the experiences we have made accessible to Slovenians over fifteen years. You can read their article Xsport celebrates 15 years of creating experiences Slovenians never forget.
Thank you for being part of our story
Fifteen years of Xsport would not have been possible without the people who trusted us with their first jump, flight, drive, descent or another adventure. Thank you to all participants, gift recipients, our teams and individuals who have become part of our story over the years.
Some of you experienced one activity with us, while others continue returning for new challenges. Some bought the experience for themselves, while others used it to surprise someone who means a great deal to them. Every completed activity contributed to Xsport growing from an initial idea into the largest range of adrenaline and other experiences in Slovenia.
After fifteen years, we still believe in the same simple idea: things eventually lose their novelty, while good experiences often become even more valuable memories as the years pass.
New jumps, flights, drives, rivers, gorges, views and stories lie ahead of us. Perhaps the next one will be yours.
