What is a flight in a wind tunnel or indoor skydiving?
A flight in a wind tunnel or indoor skydiving is an adrenaline-filled experience that simulates the feeling of freefall without jumping from an airplane. In a vertical tunnel, a strong stream of air allows the body to float and safely play with gravity. An experienced instructor is by your side to guide you and ensure safety, while you can relax and enjoy the flight. This activity combines fun, adrenaline, and a unique opportunity to feel what flying is like, usually known only from skydiving.
Is flying in a wind tunnel safe?
Flying in a wind tunnel is considered one of the safest adrenaline experiences. The activity takes place in a specially designed space where a strong air stream allows the body to float, while an experienced instructor ensures safety at all times. Before the flight you receive full instructions and protective equipment, including a suit, helmet, and goggles, and then you can simply relax and enjoy the sensation of flying. Thanks to the controlled conditions, the experience is suitable for both children and adults and requires no prior experience.
Are there any weight, height, or age restrictions?
When flying in a wind tunnel, certain restrictions apply to ensure safety and comfort. The maximum allowed weight is usually around 120 kg, and the minimum height about 120 cm so that the equipment fits properly. Children as young as 4 years old can fly, and there is generally no upper age limit as long as health conditions allow.
What about health conditions?
Flying in a wind tunnel is suitable for most people as it does not require special fitness. It is not recommended for pregnant women, people with serious heart conditions or major injuries, and participation is not allowed under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
How does your wind tunnel flight work?
A wind tunnel flight begins with preparation, where you receive equipment and instructions for correct body positions. Then you enter the tunnel, where a strong air stream creates the sensation of floating. The instructor is with you at all times, guiding you and ensuring safety. After the chosen minutes of flying, the experience ends smoothly, and you can also receive a video of your flight if you wish.
Can I also order a video recording of my flight in the wind tunnel?
In the Logatec wind tunnel, you can order a video recording after your flight. The camera follows you throughout the entire flight, and after the experience you can first watch the video and then decide whether to order it as a lasting memory.
Can I fly in a wind tunnel if I wear glasses or contact lenses?
Glasses and contact lenses are not an obstacle for flying in a wind tunnel. Before the flight you receive special protective goggles that fit over prescription glasses or contact lenses, so you will see clearly throughout the experience and have your eyes protected from the airflow.
What to wear for flying in a wind tunnel?
For flying in a wind tunnel, you will be given a jumpsuit, helmet, and protective goggles upon arrival. Under the jumpsuit, it is recommended to wear comfortable clothes such as a T-shirt and sports pants. Wear sneakers that fasten well, tie back long hair, and remove all jewelry and large accessories before the flight. This way, your experience will be comfortable and completely safe.
